We have made an optional change to the user interface workflow of referrals that will make it easier to set the status of an authorization or referral at the time it is authorized or denied. The change described below is optional - it can be configured selectively at the carrier level.
Currently, the Authorize! and Deny! menu actions in Referral Manager will set the referral or authorization to "Approved" or "Denied". In a separate step, the user has to utilize the "Set Status" menu to set the status to a custom approved or denied status (e.g., "Approved as Inpatient", "Denied - Not Covered").
For those plans that choose to enable the new carrier-level option, the user will be prompted immediately upon using the Authorize! or Deny! actions to select a status. The user can select the default status or one of the custom statuses.
